223,612. Irving, G. E. July 25, 1923. Heating and cooking vessels.-A vessel for cooking rice is provided with an inner perforated container 5 for the rice formed with a laterally - projecting slotted rim 6 by means of which it can be supported upon lugs 3 on the wall of the outer vessel. Water is placed in the vessel but so that it would not reach the bottom of the inner vessel when in the raised position; the water is caused to boil, and the inner vessel with the rice lowered to the bottom and boiling continued for a few minutes. The inner vessel is then raised by the handles 8, supported on the lugs 3, and the remainder of the cooking effected by steaming. The outer vessel is provided with a tight-fitting lid and has handles so arranged that when the handles are in line with them the lugs 3 come opposite slots in the flange of the inner vessel.
