Abstract

222,518. Warren, F. W. Sept. 27, 1923, [Convention date]. Guiding and stretching mechanism.-In the adjustment of tension rolls used with belts, webs, and the like, such as is necessary in connection with the forming wires, felts, and paper webs in paper making machines, the roll 18 is mounted in bearing blocks 36, 37, one of which, 37, is slidable in guides against the action of a spring 41 and carries a pointer 45 which, by movement over a suitable scale 46, indicates the tension of the forming wire or the like 10, and thus makes possible the maintenance of the correct tension by adjusting hand screws 32, 33, or the like to raise or lower the roll 18.
