Abstract

220,679. Case, G. O., and Novocretes, Ltd. March 22, 1923. Composite blocks and tiles. - Paving blocks are formed of a rubber wearing surface 1 vulcanized or solutioned on to to an under layer 2 of rubber concrete (i.e. particles of rubber embedded in cement) whereby integral connection between the rubber layer and the rubber particles 4 exposed on the surface of the rubber concrete is brought about. This composite formation may be applied to a base-block or layer 3 of ordinary concrete before the latter has set or by interposing a layer of cement. The rubber concrete may be united to the concrete base-layer before the rubber wearing surface is applied. The base-layer may be wholly or partly formed of the wood-sawdust concrete described in Specification 220,677, [Class 70, India-rubber &c.]. In forming tiles the base-layer is omitted. Specification 209,434 also is referred to.
