Abstract
268,438. Derham, N. L. Jan. 1, 1926. Block paving.-A surface layer of rubber for roads, walls, and other structures is secured to a concrete or like foundation by wire netting 2, the thickness of the mesh being embedded partly in the rubber 1 and partly in the concrete 3. The woven wire spring mesh shown is partly embedded in and vulcanized to the rubber layer, the projecting portion of the mesh being pressed into the unset cement of the foundation. In some cases the rubber is secured to an intermediate material by wire mesh or by vulcanization, the intermediate material being in turn secured to the foundation by the wire mesh. The wire mesh may be employed to secure rubber faces to paving blocks of composite material.
