Abstract

238,405. Herrick, R. F. Oct. 7, 1924. Paving-slabs of rubber, bituminous materials, and the like, have a plurality or long narrow ribs 7 extending across the body portion 6, all of the ribs having their opposite side faces converging downwardly. The ribs 6 are spaced apart from the opposite sides of the slabs. The roadway comprises a foundation layer of macadam and a layer of cementitious material thereon, to which the slabs are applied. Rods or wires 11 may be passed through the projections 7 to anchor further the slabs to the bed. Sand or like material or fibres may be incorporated with rubber for the slabs. The joints between the slabs may be filled with sand, bitumen or rubber.
