Abstract

339,520. Trinidad Deutsche Oel-und Asphalt-Akt-Ges., and Woerner, A. Dec. 30, 1929. Segmental and block paving; foundations.- Railway embankments are faced by bringing to the site factory-made plates or blocks of mixtures of asphalt, stone, slag, and a filling-material such as sand, and applying them in a uniform layer. The blocks may be rendered fluid and poured on. The upper surface mav be roughened. Fig. 9 shows a track faced with plates f, which are laid in bond and jointed by bitumen; above there is laid the permanent way c. The facing may be made of larger sheets. The invention is distinguished from known arrangements, one of which is shown in Fig. 4, wherein a layer of ballast c is laid on the surface b of a bank a with a bituminous covering e.
