Abstract
197,016. Plantation Rubber Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Dessau, M. M. Feb. 3, 1922. Flooring and paving blocks.-A wearing surface for roads, pavements, stairways &c. of the kind formed of small blocks of rubber embedded in a concrete or like binder, has the rubber elements formed with a contracted central portion or bound or threaded with wire in order to anchor the blocks in the binder. The rubber blocks a may have their top and bottom portions bevelled as shown in Fig. 1, or stepped as shown in Fig. 5, to overhang the binder c which penetrates between the blocks. Fig. 6 shows a block bound with wire f to produce a waist, and Fig. 9 shows a mould k for constructing a composite block of rubber discs a each in two layers embracing metal rods i which key the discs to the binder c. Fig. 10 shows a continuous rubber paving formed of blocks a having wire-bound stems o engaging the binder.
