Abstract
219,415. Johnston, W. A., and Bugden, A. G. April 30, 1923. Junction pieces; jointing tubes to flat headers. -A high pressure steam or other vapour generator, superheater or the like, particularly suitable for generating steam at its critical pressure, consists of a number of easily removable helical, U- shape or like tubes which are secured by means of wedge or screw devices to headers stayed together to form a rigid framework, which is placed out of contact with the furnace gases. The ends of the double helical tubes a are welded into end-pieces f which are pressed apart and against the sides of the headers c - - c<5> by wedges g having tightening nuts g<1>. The stays e between the headers may be secured to screwed bosses on the headers or they may be welded to the headers. The tube end-pieces may be pressed against the headers by double wedge or screw devices.
