Abstract

Regulating or controlling.- Relates to air-brake dynamometers in which the air fan is enclosed in a casing provided inside with a ring of adjustable blades or baffles and consists in dividing up the total blade area into separatelycontrolled sections. The air from the fan B rotating in the casing A in addition to travelling round inside the casing flows in the direction of the arrows. A ring of blades C, each of which is balanced about its pivot D, are provided with arms E coupled together bv links F. Each blade is divided into two parts C, C<2> and the left-hand parts are interconnected by links F so as to be operated simultaneously. The right-hand parts are similarly connected. Alternatively, two or more groups of blades may be connected by coupling alternate blades or every third, fourth, &c. blade so that each group is separately controlled. As a further alternative the two foregoing methods may be combined.
