Abstract
403,889. Turbines. SOC. ANON. DES BREVETS LEON, 37, Rue du Commerce, Tours, Indre-et-Loire, France.-(Assignees of Leon, G. ; 138, Rue Victor Hugo, Tours, Indre-et-Loire, France.) June 7, 1933, No. 16405. Convention date, July 6, 1932. [Class 110 (iii).] A rotor, which may act as a turbine or be driven as a propeller, comprises a central rotor 2 and a series of vanes which revolve around the central axis 1 in the direction of the arrow E the vanes also rotating around their own axes 3 but in the direction of the arrows F. Each vane consists of two spaced plates A supported on members 4 so that fluid flows between each pair of plates. Trunnions 3 may be secured to end plates which support the system of vanes. The vanes may be driven by gearing, and each turns through 180‹ during a revolution of the rotor. The central rotor 2 may be ribbed or built up of an assembly of curved paddles. A fixed pinion on the axis 1 may be turned to vary the angle of incidence of the vanes as each passes through a certain position. The rotor may be used for aircraft wings or in a helicopter. Fixed vanes may be placed behind and at the side of each vane C. An adjustable deflector H may also be provided.
