Abstract

219,150. Finley, S. E. June 26,1923. Moving-container apparatus. - Apparatus for making a bituminous concrete consists of a cylindrical container 1 rotatably mounted on trunnions 17, 21, and provided over half of its inner surface with angularly-disposed blades 40. The trunnion 21 is hollow for the supply of bituminous binding medium to a series of nozzles 30. In operation, aggregate is placed in the container and cascaded to assure even distribution of the various sized particles. A predetermined quantity of binder is sprayed out to the cascading material. Gas under pressure is then admitted through the nozzles 30 to assist in the penetration of the aggregate by the bitumen.
