Abstract

217,449. Jones, A. C., (trading as Messenger & Sons), and Stubbs, S. P. July 12, 1923. Globes; shades.-A bowl-like globe or shade for use with incandescent gas burners for indirect lighting, is made in two parts, an upper annular part 7 and a lower convex, hemispherical, or dish-like part 8, the two parts being provided with interengaging rims 7<a>, 8<a> respectively. The upper part 7 has holes 7<b> for receiving the means of attachment to the gas fitting, and the lower part 8 may be provided with an undulating rim so as to provide air-admission openings 9 as shown in Fig. 3. In a modification the two parts are connected by a metallic or other ring 10 having ventilating holes 10<a> as shown in Fig. 4. The two parts 7, 8 may both be made of ordinary glass or alternatively the lower part 8 may be made of silica glass or the glass known under the registered Trade Mark "Vitreosil."
