399,880. Reflectors; globes. CURTIS LIGHTING-EUROPE SOC. ANON., 151, Longue Rue de l'Escaut, Hemixem, and BREIL, C., 24, Avenue Helene, Antwerp, both in Belgium. April 16, 1932, No. 10949. [Class 75 (ii).] A reflector a for illuminating a relatively large area is wholly or partly elliptical in cross section with the upper focal point x common to all sections coinciding with the source of light and the lower focal point z of any one section b being below and adjacent to the bottom or outer edge d of the opposite side of the reflector. It may be made of silvered or prismatic glass or of polished metal and may be used in combination with a diffusing or refracting globe g which may be formed at its upper end with a clear glass annulus, preferably of heat-resisting glass, or may be supported below the reflector so as to leave an annular air-gap e. The reflector, with or without the globe, may be in the form of a surface of revolution about an axis y-y, or it may comprise two or more similar or dissimilar parts arranged symmetrically or asymmetrically about the axis, and each part may be generated by movement of the elliptical section along a circular, elliptical, or other curve.
