Abstract

217,436. Barker, J. C., and Simpson, M. L. June 30, 1923. Tyre attachments to rims. - The detachable flange 7 and the main rim portion 1 are provided with inwardly directed flanges 5, 8 secured together by set screws 6, and means are provided for preventing loss of the set screws consisting of cup-shaped members 20 with apertured ends 25 which are secured as by riveting, to the flange 8 so as to provide casings in which shoulders 17 on the set-screws can move to a sufficient extent to allow disengagement of the set-screws from the flange 5. Preferably the depth of the members 20 is such that when the set screws are withdrawn to the extent allowed by the ends 25 of the members, the points of the set-screws lie in the holes 9 in the flange 8. The heads 19 of the set screws may be formed to take a box spanner or other suitable tool or to be fitted with milled discs 26.
