Gins.-In a cotton gin of the Macarthy or like type the fixed or upper knife f, the seed rail or grid e, and the ginning-roller g are carried on auxiliary brackets b and are vertically adjustable together with respect to the movable knife or knives. The brackets b are of right-angle, form and are secured to the faces a<1> of the frames a by bolts d, while each bracket is adjustable vertically by means of nuts c<3> on a bolt c carried by the frame a, the said bolt passing through a part c<2> fixed to the bracket b. The fixed knife f, the gearing roller g, and the grid c are all independently adjustable on the brackets b. The auxiliary brackets may be adjusted by eccentric devices j, Fig. 6, bearing on projections B<1>.
