638,888. Sifting or separating apparatus. BOULTON, Ltd., W., and BEARDMORE, F. Sept. 12, 1947, No; 25013. [Class 117] In a sifting o r separating machine the sieve frame is formed into a lower part 12 which carries a wooden seating 14 to which the lawn 10 is secured as by pins to as high a degree of tautness as is normally obtainable and an upper part 11 which has a projecting nosing 18 forming a rim or ring which when the two parts 11, 12 are fastened together as by bolts 16 and nuts 17 and tightened up, presses on the lawn and imparts additional tautness to it. The lower part 12 may have a ledge 13 to support the seating and the lawn 10 may be fastened down on the seating between strips 19, 20 of flannel or similar material.
