Feeding.-In a dough dividing machine of the kind in which dough is fed by a roll a from a hopper b to a chamber c, where it is separated by a reciprocating ram f and fed into a division box h in a rotating drum i, the feed roll a and the ram f are arranged so that on the early part of the forward stroke of the ram the feed action is cut off while the aperture e leading to the hopper still remains open, thus allowing escape of air from the dough. The extent of the opening e can be varied by mounting the side d of the hopper adjustably, while a passage k is provided to allow the air to escape without passing through all the dough in the hopper. The roll a is rotated by a chain l from the drum i.
