Abstract
215,889. Hight, G. F., and Brown, T. W. March 8, 1923. Holders for sliding windows. -Unbalanced sliding sashes are held in adjusted position by the friction between a plate carried by the sash and pressed outwards by a helical spring carried in a socket and a fixed plate on the frame. The sash 1 is recessed to carry a fixed plate 2 in a depression in which is carried a spring 7 which presses a thimble 6 against a plate 4 to move it into frictional engagement with the plate 9 secured to the frame 8. The spring 7 is strong enough to ensure that the plate 4 is pressed to the plate 9 with sufficient force to maintain the window in any position. The plate 4 has projections 5 working in slots 5<a> in the fixed plate to form guides and to ensure that the plate moves with the sash.
