Food preparations.-A drv or condensed food approximating in composition to human milk is prepared by mixing a fat such as cream, with a soluble carbohydrate such as lactose, pasturizing the mixture at a temperature of 60-70‹ C., drying at a temperature of 45-60‹ C., and adding dried or condensed milk, and drying further. The operations may take place in vacuo. Substances containing carbohydrates, such as whey powder, may be substituted for lactose, and emulsified animal or vegetable fat or oil for cream, but materials containing a high proportion of casein, such as the milk preparations, described in Specification 111,341, are unsuitable.
