Abstract

103,433. Midland Cattle Products and Austin, J. July 6, 1916. Food for animals.-A food product is prepared by incorporating fresh animal blood with a cereal meal, such as barley meal, oatmeal, or Indian meal, and drying the mixture by spreading it in thin layers and subjecting it to a low, but gradually increasing, heat ranging from 100-500‹ F. The mixing may be done cold, or while the ingredients are subjected to a very gentle heat. The meal and blood are mixed in proportions to give a 6nal product containing approximately 70 per cent. carbohydates, 20 per cent. albumenoids, 6 per cent. phosphates &c., and 4 per cent. oils.
