Abstract

A tubular device with finger shaped mouldings on the lower exterior designed to fit comfortably in the hand has a slit 10 at the top for inserting the handles of carrier bags and making them less painful to carry when heavy. Rolled up carrier bags can be stored inside so making a convenient and compact shopping device. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Carrier Hand Bag Grip This invention relates to a carrier bag hand grip.
Most types of plastic carrier bag are well known for becoming painfull to carry due to weight, causing the handles to cut into the fingers causing discomfort to the user.
In relation to use with suitable types of carrier bag there is provided a tubular device of suitable material being either plastic or metal with a narrow slit running along the top to allow the handles of carrier bags to be inserted and the lower exterior of the tube shaped to provide more comfort to the fingers.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 illustrates side view.
Figure 2 illustrates end view.
Figure 3 illustrates plan.
Figure 4 illustrates section A.A.
Referring to the drawing the hand grip is used by inserting the handles of one or two carrier bags into the carrier bag hand grip by means of slotting through the slit No. 10, or sliding in through either one of the purposely rounded ends No. 11. The grip should then be lifted so that the carrier bag handle rests lightly in the bottom of the grip and the carrier bag handles should be moved to either side of the raised ridge No. 1 2 running down the center of the inner part of the grip to provide more balance and further ease of carrying. An overlapping lip No. 1 3 is provided at each lower end to hold the carrier bag handles clear of the hands.
A further benefit of the device is that the carrier bag can be put down and lifted again with littie or no adjustment necessary to the position of the grip. To release the carrier bag from the grip all that is necessary is to turn the grip around so that the slit is at the bottom and lift the grip upwards.
A tubular section has been embodied into this design for comfort to the hand and to allow for some carrier bags which have wide handles to be tucked into the grip accordingly.
For further convenience a carrier bag could be rolled up small enough and inserted into the grip and so creating a convenient and compact means of carriage while out shopping.
1. A tubular device of suitable material being either plastic or metal with a small slit along the top to allow the handles of carrier bags to be inserted. The lower exterior of the tube shaped to provide comfort to the fingers when carrying carrier bags.
2. A tubular device as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the slit at the top is rounded each side of each end to facilitate attachment to a carrier bag and narrow enough so as to allow the carrier bag to be put down without the tubular grip detaching itself.
3. A tubular device as claimed in Claim 1, or Claim 2, wherein a lip is provided at each end of the lower part of the tube to prevent contact between the carrier bag handle and the hand.
4. A tubular device as claimed in Claim 2, or in Claim 3, wherein a central ridge runs along the lower inside part of the tube to hold apart the handles of carrier bags and provide balance and comfort to the person carrying them.
5. A tubular device as described in Claim 3, being of circular cross-section for comfort to the hand and provide space to accommodate the wider handles of some carrier bags.
6. A tubular device as described in previous claims which can hold one or two rolled up carrier bags to provide a compact shopping device.
7. A tubular device substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1--4 of the accompanying drawing.
