Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - The valve controlling injection of fuel is in the form of a disc 6; it is a sliding fit within a cylindrical cavity 16 formed in the lower end of a member 12, and is opened either by a cam or by the fuel pressure. The disc 6 is pressed on to a flat seating surrounding an injection channel 4 by a spring 11 mounted within a cup 10 in contact with the disc. When the member 12 lifts against the pressure of the spring 15, the valve disc is maintained against its seating by the spring 11 until lugs 9 on the cap 8 attached to the member 12 contact with the valve disc to lift it and thus permit the fuel injection. The pressure of the spring 15 is normally taken by lugs 81 on the lower end of the cap 8 which is so arranged that free access of the fuel to the cavity 16 is assured. The cup 10 may be omitted; and the upper plane surface of the disc 6 may be otherwise constructed.
