213,802. Wallsend Slipway & Engineering Co., Ltd., and Simm, J. S. May 28, 1923. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - A double acting cylinder has a cover 8 which has a concavity 36 with which the piston mates and two hemispherical pockets 37. Each pocket has a fuel injection valve and either a starting air valve or a relief valve and an indicator cock, these valves being accommodated in tubes which are fixed in pasages cast in the head immediately below holes through which the circulating water passes. The other cover 28 has a central opening which accommodates a cage 29 carrying a fuel injection valve, and a starting air valve. Ports 21, 22 for scavenging air and exhaust are formed in a thickened portion of the liner. The base of the exhaust port 22 may be curved to allow for expansion.
