213,496. Pierpont, F. H., and Lanston Monotype Corporation, Ltd. Aug. 11, 1923. Single-type composing and casting machines; matrices.-The die-cases of machines such as that described in Specification 8633/99 are provided with projections, guides, or the like, which extend down between the upper ends of the matrices or into recesses formed therein, so as to limit the lateral movement, diminish wear, and facilitate the removal of the matrices. In one embodiment, the matrices B<1>, Fig. 3, which are suspended on rods E in known manner, have their corners cut away, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, so as to form recesses into which extend square projections A formed on the usual guard-plate D, or on a separate plate. Specifications 4726/05 and 201,764 also are referred to.
