6798. Pierpont, F. H., and Lanston Monotype Corporation. March 19. Matrices for single-type composing and casting machines. The characters are in cameo or relief to enable typographic surfaces to be made directly from the type. The matrices are surrounded by a plate provided with an aperture in accordance with the point and set dimensions of the character. Fig. 7 shows a die case in which the matrices in each row are covered by a single plate D secured to the face of the die case. A single plate having openings for a fount of matrices may be used. Specification 8633/99 is referred to.
