15,988. Lanston Monotype Corporation, [Bancroft, J. S., and Indahl, M. C.]. July 11. Strip-perforating machines.-To enable extra spacing to be added to the type when desired, the machine is provided with a special punch which can be operated by and in conjunction with the ordinary character and space punches. The bar 10 of the special punch has shoulders forming a bearing 11 which can be engaged by an interponent in the form of a bar 12 adapted to be raised by shoulders 13 on the ordinary punch-bars 1. The bar 12 is pivotally carried by rocking arms 14 and can be moved into and out of engagement by a push-piece 17. In order to record the extra spacing on the units-counting mechanism, a special stop connected to the bar 12 is inserted in the path of the units-rack. Specification 17,199/08 is referred to.
