Crushers with vibrating jaws.-A machine for crushing rock, ore, &c. has a swing jaw and actuating-means, and a lever interposed between the jaw and said actuating-means, the lever being freely suspended and supported independently of and actuated by said means, for oscillating the jaw. A fixed abutment is provided for one end of the lever, and means for holding the leveractuating means against rotation. The eccentric 16 is enclosed in a motion block comprising a base portion 15 and cap 14 connected by bolts 17, and a lug 20 on the base 15 carries pivoted links 21 which are pivoted at their lower ends on a lug 22 on the transverse abutment 23 of the machine frame. A removable bushing or lining piece 19 mounted between the portions 14, 15 receives the strains from the eccentric 16. The thrust of the eccentric is transmitted through a thrust-plate 25, angular lever 30, and thrustplate 38 to the swing jaw 10. The lever 30 is freely suspended from the jaw 10 by means of links 27 pivoted at their upper ends to a lug 26 on the jaw and at their lower ends to an arm 28 formed on a central strengthening-rib 29 of the lever. The inclined thrust-plate 25 bears against seats 24, 31 on the base 15 and the under face of the lever 30 at the upper end respectively. while the horizontal thrust-plate 38 bears against seats 39, 37 on the rear face of the jaw 10 and a plate 36 extending across the lever 30 respectively. The fulcrum-plate 33 of the lever bears against seats 32, 34 in the rear face at the lower end of the lever and a block 25 seated in the abutment 23. The plates 25, 33, 38 lie in and practically parallel with the planes of their movemeans. A socket 43 is formed at the upper end of the lever to receive a bar for handling the lever, and the thrust-plates are provided with an axial recess 45 at each end.
