Abstract

Crushers with vibrating jaws.-A crusher for coal, stone, &c. has an oscillating crushing-plate with a curved crushing-surface pivotally mounted between the ends of the crushing-surface on an eccentric mounting, with means for oscillating the plate upon the mounting, and means for actuating the eccentric mounting for effecting a relief of pressure. As shown, Figs. 1 and 3, the stationary breaker-plate is pivoted at its upper end 14, and has a curved' portion 15 and a flat portion 16 terminating in a detachable flat plate 17. Rods 21 supported by pins 20 in bearings 19 on the side walls 18 of the breaker-plate extend longitudinally through the side frames 10 of the machine and are provided with springs 22 which bear at one end against the frames 10 and at the other end against adjustable washers 23 on the rods. The curved base-plate 25 of the crushing-plate has side walls 26 terminating in a bearing-portion 27 and carries detachable facing-plates 126, 128 supporting detachable crushing and cutting teeth 127 of different sizes. The centres of curvature of the upper and lower portions 126, 128 of the crushing-plate are eccentric with respect to the eccentric pivot or shaft 29, the radius of curvature of the lower portion 128 being smaller than that of the upper portion 126. The non-eccentric or supporting portions 31 of the shaft 29 are larger in diameter than the shaft 29 to allow the shaft to be removed through the bearing openings in the side frames 10. One end of the shaft 29 carries a driving-pulley 32, and the other end carries a wheel 33 gearing with a wheel 133 on a shaft 34 supported in bearings 36, 37. An eccentric 38 on the shaft 34 operates a link 39 supported on a pin 43, carried by ears 42 on the plate 25. Fig. 8 shows modified means for oscillating the crushing-plate upon its eccentric mounting, the link 139 being adjustable in length and an adjustable eccentric collar 137 being provided between the shaft 134 and the eccentric 138.
