Abstract

211,394. Flower, A. L. June 5, 1923. Platen presses for printing on labels in a holder on a bottle-labelling machine are constructed with a printing-stamp 12 in which is mounted type 13, the stamp being rotatably mounted in arms 9 of a bell-crank lever 8, 9, operated from the labelling-machine. A plunger 4, operated bv the machine, acts on the end 2 of a lever 1 connected by a slotted end 5 to the T-shaped end of a rod 6 connected to the bell-crank 8, 9. As the stamp 12 moves from its position, in which its type face is against an ink pad 14, to the position shown in dotted lines, in which it is printing on the bottom label of a holder b, the stamp is rotated by gear wheels 16, 17 engaging a fixed wheel 18. The lever 1 is mounted on a pivoted cover 19 of the holder, and the lever 1 and rod 6 can be readily disconnected when the holder requires renewing.
