Abstract

210,350. St. Clair, H. A. June 12, 1923. Ladders.-Convertible long and step ladders have hinge members secured to the ends of the separate portions, these hinge members having overlapping offset portions 15 through which passes a pivot pin 16. The circumferences of the overlapping portions are provided with slots or grooves 23, 24 which are adapted to come into alignment for the two positions of the ladders and be held there by spring-actuated locking levers 19 pivoted to the sides of the lower ladder member. The top step 6 of the ladder is formed as a platform with strengthened edges 26, Fig. 6, and is supported by bracket members 28. The joints between the bottom step and the ladder sides are strengthened by angle-brackets 40.
