Abstract

208,947. Cheney, C. W. Feb. 23, 1923. Catches, spring.-Snap fastenings for jewel-cases and other small boxes, of the type comprising an L-shaped resilent strip of which the vertical limb carries the catch and an operating push - button, are provided with a second spring limb to which the push-button is attached. The L-shaped spring member e has limbs e<2>, e<3>, the limb e<2> having the catch e<4> which co-operates with the member h on the lid, and the limb e<3> lying along the bottom of the case and being attached thereto at e<5>. The second limb f in the example shown is formed by stamping out from the member e and is integral therewith at a point just below the catch e', and its end is free and slides under the raised part e of the member e. The push-button g is attached directly to the limb f, and on pressing the button g for release, the limb f is first moved, causing movement of the limb e<2> to release the catch. This arrangement ensures greater resiliency and easier motion of the button
