Abstract

208,866. Stewart, N. F. Nov. 11, 1922. Driving-arrangements for screw propellers ; detachable installations.-A yacht is provided with a driving propeller and means whereby it can be operatively connected with and driven by an outboard motor propelling set, the latter being removable for use on the dinghy. The yacht a has a propeller b permanently supported in a stern tube d and carrying a gear wheel on the inboard end of the propeller shaft f. An ordinary detachable installation c is adapted to be supported on an inclined board i and the propeller shaft has a gear wheel j which is steadied by a bracket k and which meshes with the gear wheel on the shaft f. When the installation c is detached for use on the dinghy, the wheel j is removed and boss fairing member secured in its place. A pump may be driven off the shaft f. In a modification the propeller of the out. board installation c is removable and the driving pinion can be attached in its place when installed in the yacht.
