Abstract

208,336. Hall, E. O. Nov. 14, 1922. Handles with clamping- devices for thin blades; fixing by dovetail tangs with bolt securing devices.-Detachable knife blades are formed with a recess in one one side in which the tang of the blade is clamped by a removable piece and a clamping-screw, the edges of the tang and of the recess being shaped to form a firm and rigid connection. As shown, the handle comprises a metal frame a' recessed on each side for pieces a<2> of wood, horn, bone &c., the metal being extended at one or both edges to form a guard a<3>. A recess b is formed to receive the correspondingly shaped end or tang c<1> of the blade c. A metal piece f fitting the recess is clamped on to the tang by a screw d and recessed nut e, Fig. 3, the handle, tang and piece f being perforated for the screw and nut, as shown.
