502,430. Bread slicing machines. ROSE, A. G., and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Dec. 2, 1937, Nos. 33284/37 and 461 /38. [Class 5 (i)] In a bread-slicing machine of the kind having a gang of spaced, parallel, longitudinally reciprocating knife blades, the knives are so shaped that a part only of the cutting-edge initially engages the bread, the length of the effective cutting-edge increasing as the cut progresses. As shown, each knife a is bow-shaped and the cutting-teeth b are on the convex edge. The teeth may, however, be on the concave edge. Instead of curving the blade into bow-form, it may have two straight lengths meeting at a very obtuse angle at the middle point of the blade.
