Abstract
621,488. Knives; handles. BECKER, M. E. June 27, 1944, No. 12221. Convention date, May 27, 1943. [Class 30] [Also in Group XXIII], A multiple bladed knife for cutting furs &c. into strips, comprises a number of thin blades 31, Fig. 2, separated by spacers 24 having dovetail projections on their rear edge to engage a dovetail groove 23 in a carrier block 21. The spacers have overhanging portions 29, Fig 6, at one side to engage corresponding recesses 30 in the adjacent spacer, and the blades, which taper downwardly engage beneath the portions 29 and may also have dovetail projections to engage the groove 23. The spacers may have complementary projections 33 and sockets 34 which may be triangular in shape, the blades having corresponding triangular openings. The end spacers may have plain outer surfaces. The spacers and blades are clamped in the carrier by blocks 36, 37 and screw 39. The carrier 21 is removably secured to a handle 12 shaped to extend between the thumb and metacarpus of the hand. The handle comprises a hollow forward portion 13 which curves downwardly into a thin blade portion 16 which is twisted to provide a surface which is substantially vertical and terminates in a pair of fins 18 adapted to engage the rear of the hand of the user.
