Abstract

206,705. Meiro, A. Nov. 14, 1922. Materials, actuating; cylinders, non-heat-conducting linings for. - Water or steam is passed through a coil 5 of refractory material such as nickel-steel arranged in the combustion chamber, the watar &c. decomposing into hydrogen and oxygen, which form part of the explosive charge. The cylinder has a liner also of refractory material with asbestos packing 2 behind it. The water is admitted through a valve-controlled nozzle. The engine is started on a combustible mixture formed with a hydrocarbon, air therefor being admitted through a nozzle 20, the air passing through the passage 19. The exhaust from the engine can be used in the boiler 16 to produce the steam, which is to be decomposed. The cylinder and exhaust pipe may have a covering of heat-insulating material.
