Abstract
206,565. Tullis, W. W., and Minerals Separation, Ltd. Aug. 3, 1922. Treating ores to facilitaete concentration; agglomerating processes. - In the treatment of iron ores containing haematite and other oxides or hydrated oxides of iron associated with siliceous gangue prior to froth flotation concentration, the ore is first heated to a temperature of 500‹ C. or over so that any hydrated oxides of iron such aslimonite. present are dehydrated and the gangue becomes brittle so that after quencing it is much more easily crushed. After the excess water has. been removed from the concentrates they may be sintered into masses of sufficient size for use in smelting, or the wet concentrates may be flocculated and then pressed into substantially dry briquettes. Alternatively the wet concentrates may be flocculated and then dried and rolled into granules by heating in a rotary cylinder or other rotary apparatus. Specifications 21856/10 and 154,870, [both in Class 82 (ii), Washing granular &c.], are referred to.
