Dash-pots.-A check or dash-pot 51 is provided to check the descent of the platform of a lifting truck and comprises two cylinders 52, 53 rigidly connected, the smaller cylinder 52 containing a valved piston and being provided with a tapered groove 54 to diminish gradually the leakage of the fluid past the piston during its stroke. The piston-rod 63 is provided with a spring 68 and is connected to the lifting platform.
