Abstract

205,595. Ritte, J. A. July 26, 1922. Producers; producer plant. - Gas producer plant for use on motorvehicles comprises a down-draught producer of the type described in Specification 14304/10 and using wood and charcoal, the gas being cooled by passage through water- and air-cooled pipes passing round the vehicle. Gas from the producer enters the ash-pit 8 and passes through tubes 10 cooled by water in a casing 12 and from a junction box 11 through air-cooled tubes 10<1>, 10<11> to a conduit 15 connected to the engine inlet 16. Casing 12 is connected to the radiator and to a water reservoir by pipes 14, 13 respectively. The engine inlet pipe is provided with a valve having means for admitting either producer gas or the air and vapours from a carburettor or a mixture of these to the engine. The space between the fuel container 1 and' the outer casing 6 serves as a heater for the air supplied to the producer. When the engine is at rest the stack valve 7 is raised to permit of air passing up the producer to maintain combustion in the fuel bed.
