Abstract

142,308. Morgan, H. May 9, 1919. Cylinders, cooling.- Air is drawn through the cylinder jacket by the ejector action of the exhaust. The air enters by vertical slots 15 and is guided by intermeshing horizontal ribs 6, 7 on the casing and cylinder and by vertical baffles 14. The casing may be built in sections 2 - - 5, and the cover may carry air inlets 18, 20. The top of the casing may be larger than the bottom, and each may have a separate airoutlet pipe 9, which ultimately join. The casing may be cylindrical with another slotted cylinder working outside it and serving as a valve to adjust the air slots. The outer cylinder may be connected to the throttle or the. change-speed gear lever. The joints in the casing may be spaced apart to admit air.
