Abstract
181,832. Vijgeboom, W., and Felies, J. F. March 21, 1921. Drawings to Specification. Cylinders, cooling.-Water jackets are divided into two coaxial compartments by means of a cylindrical or double-helical partition. In the former case, water passes first through the outer compartment, and returns through the inner compartment, leaving the jacket by a passage situated at the same end as, but diametrically opposite to the passage by which it enters. In the latter case, the water passes first through one of the helical compartments, and returns through the other, the inlet and outlet passages being situated at the same end of the cylinder. Means for air cooling the piston are illustrated, and the exhaust passages are cooled by plain water jackets. The engine to which the invention is described as being applied is described in Specification 174,120. The invention is also applicable to pumps.
