Abstract

204,531. Griffiths, D., and Daniel, G. M. Oct. 2, 1922. Electrically - actuated valves. - A clookworkcontrolled device for cutting off a source of heat after a predetermined interval and particularly adapted for use with dentists vulcanizers comprises a clock fitted with an additional pointer provided with contacts adapted to be selectively engaged by either the hour or minute hand to complete through an electromagnet whereby a catch is released to permit the closing of a valve or electric switch and the simultaneous interruption of the actuating circuit. The Figures show the device adapted to the actuation of a gas valve. The valve is sumpported by an extension of a U-shaped bracket 3 and has a ported plunger 2 held in the open position by a pivoted armature 15 engaging a catch 17. An extension 8 on the plunger is connected to a pivoted lever 7 acted on by a coiled spring 18 tending to close the valve and coupled by a link 6 to a bell crank 5 adapted to depress a flexible contact bridge 9 into engagement with a fixed contact 10 and so complete the actuating circuit through the magnet 14 and control clock 19. The clock has a movable hand 21 provided with contacts 24, 25 one or other of which is adapted to be engaged by the hour or minute hands 22, 23, to energize the magnet and release the valve. The lever 7 may have a knob for resetting and the bell crank may have a rigid contact adapted to ccnnect two fixed contacts.
