Clockwork - actuated valves.-Clockwork apparatus for actuating valves or electric switches used for controlling lighting apparatus is provided with a mutilated pinion or apertured disc adapted to engage the fly pinion at certain intervals and so cause a departure from the regular sequence of operations. In the form shown, the mutilated pinion b is mounted on a short spindle a fitted with a star-wheel e adapted to be turned at intervals by a peg f on the timing dial g. The spindle a is mounted in a boss h and a light spring j prevents accidental displacement. The star-wheel has seven arms each arm being marked with a day of the week and arranged to co-operate with a pointer k. The mutilated pinion may be replaced with a disc of leather or rubber having portions of the periphery removed.
