[Class 139] In a clock for indicating twelve or twenty-four hour time, wherein two sets of hour indications 0 . . 11 and 12 ... 23 on a dial bare alternately brought behind openings c in a fixed masking disc a the movements of the dial are effected by a quadrant pivoted to a spring-influenced member actuated by a projection on the hour spindle. Pivoted to the back of the masking disc a at j is a lever m pivotally suspended from which at q<1> is a quadrant plate q the notched radial sides of which coact with projections r, s on the dial b to rock it to its two positions determined by a stop e thereon, the movement of the dial b being limited by the recesses f in the top slot c, Fig. 1. Pivoted to the lever mat p is a lever o to one end of which is connected a spring y, anchored at z, which biasses the lever o against a stop m<1> on lever m and forces the quadrant downwards. A cam or projection w on the hour-hand spindle x engages the lever o and through it lifts lever m and the quadrant. The quadrant has projections v coacting with a biassing spring t secured to lever m, such that when lifted from the position shown in Fig. 2, the quadrant rides idly past the projection r and when at noon, the projection w releases the lever o, the left (Fig. 5) notched side of the quadrant engages and depresses the projection r to rock the dial b to show the indications 12 ... 23 through the openings c. At midnight, the quadrant is again raised and when released depresses the projection s on the dial, rocking it to show the indications 0 ... 11. The dial b is removably fitted on a flange d concentric with the hour-hand spindle x, and is apertured at g, h whereby it may be slid thereover. The pivotal arrangement of lever o on member m enables the hands to be set by reverse rotation of the spindle x without actuating the dial moving mechanism. According to the Provisional Specification, the quadrant is pivotally carried by a spring- biassed bar or rod movable in guides on the masking dial by a cam on the hour spindle.
