Abstract

395,813. Clockwork actuation of switches and valves. HORSTMANN, F. O., 92, Newbridge Road, and'HORSTMANN GEAR CO., Ltd., Newbridge Works, both in Bath. March 15, 1932, No. 7613. [Class 38 (v).] In a clockwork-operated switch or valve having " on " and " off " tappets 10, 11 automatically adjusted throughout the year by cams 8, 9, each tappet arm has teeth 7 which engage teeth 6 on a pivoted lever 5 which has a pin 20 bearing on the cam 8 or 9. The disc 1 has a boss 2 which is frictionally fixed on to a driving shaft so as to rotate once in 24 hours. The disc 1 has mounted on it a wheel 3 the teeth of which are adapted to engage a fixed projection (not shown), the wheel 3 being thus advanced one tooth for each revolution of the disc 1. The wheel 3 in turn carries.a pinion 4 which engages a wheel 18 that is fixed to the cams 8, 9, the ratio of gearing being such that the wheel 18 and therefore the cams 8, 9 make one revolution per year.
