Abstract

Articles (1) to be packaged are brought in front of a wrapping foil (3) and are pushed by a first conveyor slide (9) through folding tools (6, 7) into a chamber (12, 13) at an intermediate station II. The chamber (12, 13) is mounted on a lever (14) and can be swung up into a second end position (IIa). In this position, the projecting flaps of the wrapping foil (3) are folded in by folding tongues (16) and are sealed by a heated tool (17). The chamber (12, 13) is then swung back into the intermediate station (II). The article (1) located in the chamber (12, 13) is then pushed by a conveyor slide (11) into an outlet station (III) on a conveyor belt (19), and folding operations are carried out on the faces of the article (1) by means of folding tongues (11c and 18). The conveyor slide (11) carries a bar (11a) and a resilient cushion (11b) as a counter-hold for the incoming articles and for the folding tongues (11c). The return stroke of the conveyor slide (11) takes place when the chamber (12, 13) is in the swung-up position (IIa). <IMAGE>
