Abstract

This vacuum pump has two diaphragms 8 which reciprocate, preferably in phase, thereby varying the volume of two series-connected chambers. The two chambers are interconnected by a pipe in such a way that fluid can flow through the pipe in one direction only. One of the chambers is provided with a one-way inlet valve 11 and the other chamber is provided with a one-way outlet valve 12. The diaphragms are reciprocated by an eccentric 5 on a rotary shaft 6. A connecting rod 4 or a connecting rod for each diaphragm is journalled on the eccentric 5 and coupled to a rectilinearly guided plunger 3 or a respective plunger, respectively, for reciprocating the diaphragms. <IMAGE>
