Abstract

200,912. Wottle, H. April 20, 1922. Securing pulleys on shafts.-In split beltpulleys, the hub is replaced by ribs transverse to the shaft axis and other ribs parallel to it, the ends of these latter being so spaced as to grip the shaft when the pulley-halves are bolted together. As applied to a cast-metal pulley, the rim-halves and ribs are integral, lightening-holes being provided in the transverse ribs and pockets being formed in the rim to receive the heads and nuts of the bolts securing the halves together. As applied to a pulley with a segmental wooden rim 7, Figs. 3 and 4, arms 8, 8<1>, 9, 9<1> are cast with gripping-ribs 18, 18<1>, 19<1> and drum-halves 10, 10<1>, the end walls of which constitute the transverse ribs.
