Abstract
162,744. Hefford, J. L. Jan. 28, 1920. Securing pulleys on shafts.-A driving pulley has a compressed cork ring 1, clamped and supported between side plates 2 shaped with flanges 4, 5 for keeping the cork in position. Cork or other suitable material 13 is fitted in recesses formed by raised portions 11 in the side plates, and is reinforced by metal plates 14 which are slightly flanged at their inner edges 15 and are clamped together by bolts 17. A bore 16, slightly smaller in diameter than the shaft to be accommodated is formed in the cork 13 so that the cork is compressed on to the shaft when the bolts 18 are tightened up, thus providing engagement therewith.
