Abstract

283,999. Stone & Co., Ltd., J., (Darker, A. H.J. Oct. 18, 1926. Shafts; securing pulleys on shafts.-To enable a pulley or a series of pulleys with bores of uniform diameter to be secured truly concentrically with the shaft bearings upon shafts which may be out of truth or which may differ in diameter, metal strips b are secured by spot welding or other means to the shaft a and are turned down to provide a properly situated series of surfaces fitting the pulley hub. The pulley may be keyed to the shaft or, as shown, may be frictionally tightened thereon. Axial movement of the pulley on the strips may be prevented by forming shoulders on the strip ends or by forming channels g, Fig. 4, in the strips for engagement by the beads h of rivets employed in the pulley construction. By substituting recesses g<1> for the channels g, relative rotary motion is also inhibited. In a further modification, Fig. 5, plates j secured within the pulley hub engage between the strips b to prevent relative rotation.
